Capable Kids and Families® is an innovative program supporting families of children with developmental delays and disabilities! We provide home visits, an extensive developmental therapy equipment loan program, an amazing playroom, networking opportunities and playgroups, parent information sessions, and a variety of other special events.
Home Visits
Visits with Capable Kids and Families® (CKF) staff take place in the convenience of your home. Your home visitor will bring enjoyable activities for your child, developmental therapy equipment loan items, and a variety of community resource connections. We are also great listeners and frequently assist with researching information about your child’s diagnosis. We know how busy you are and believe it is a privilege to be a part of your child’s team.
Playroom
Capable Kids and Families® has an amazing playroom designed to meet your child’s developmental needs. Infant climbers, a multi-sensory Somatron Ball Pool, therapy swings, and a wonderful pony named Chestnut who simulates therapeutic riding await your child. The playroom is cleaned on a regular basis to protect vulnerable immune systems. Siblings are welcome!
Playgroups for enrolled families take place weekly—please call for more information.
Please contact your CKF home visitor to reserve the playroom for your family’s use.
Networking Opportunities and Special Events
Capable Kids and Families® provides opportunities for your family to talk to others who are also parenting children with disabilities. Families network during playgroups, but also during special outings to the pool, pumpkin patch, or other area attractions.
Developmental Therapy Equipment Loan Program
Therapists frequently suggest activities parents can do at home to work on their child’s developmental goals. Capable Kids and Families® has an extensive loan program of professional therapy equipment. This allows parents to work on their child’s developmental goals under the guidance of their therapist. A resource library is also available.
CKF Playground at Lions Club Park
Capable Kids and Families® obtained funding to design and build an accessible playground for young children at Lions Club Park in Rolla, Missouri. The Lions generously donated the land and labor for the park.
