What is a Mentor?


A Mentor IS:

  • A caring and concerned adult.
  • A listener and a guide.
  • An advocate for the needs of a young person.
  • A Positive role model.

 

 


Responsibilities of a Mentor

  • Commit to spending 4 hours a month with your mentee by phone or in person.
  • Commit to one year.
  • Gives feedback, support and encouragement.
  • Be a friend, role model and advisor.     

 

 

A Mentor is NOT:

  • A Financial institution.
  • A Disciplinarian or a pushover. 
  • A Counselor.
  • A Social Worker.
