The Community and Youth Development department is comprised of two divisions - Caring Communities and Youth Development. Each of these areas house programs that focus on empowering children and families in our community.

Caring Communities bring local citizens & organizations together to build better communities for children & families. We work together to improve existing programs & services and develop new ideas for better quality of life. Current projects include:

• Linking Hearts Adoption Day
• Foster Parent and Case Worker Support
• Independent Living Program (also known as ILP or Chafee)
• Fit Phelps
• Community Work Support
• Transportation Assistance Grant (TAG)

Youth Development focuses on programs that are part of the Missouri Mentoring Partnership and give youth the support and skills necessary to succeed. Youth Development programs include:

• Young Parents Program
• Community Based Mentoring (for the young parents)
• Youth Employment Skills (YES)
• Work site Mentoring Program (for those in the YES program)
