Friendship Circles

Friendship Circles is a program designed to facilitate the development of friendships among children with disabilities and their peers.  The children participate in fun activities in a non-threatening environment where all can be successful.  Typically, these interactions lead to the development of friendships that carry over into the classroom, cafeteria, and playground.

Friendship Circles is provided in the child's school, and there are currently four schools participating in Phelps County.

How does the program work? Children from your child's classroom are invited to participate in small group meetings at the school where they'll play fun games, work on interesting craft projects, and they'll really like the snacks provided! A recreational specialist from the Partnership models friendship and communication skills that all the children involved can benefit from.

If your school is within Phelps County and you'd like to find out more, please contact us.
