Notes From Amy
Technology Notes!

Dear ###USER_firstname###,

I didn't know this Note was going to be about technology until Jean showed me an amazing new tool Capable Kids and Families just bought. However, I am now determined to make cupcakes, Linking Hearts, and Bill moving to the Lake all fit under a technology theme. Let me know if I succeed!

Look What a Cupcake Can Do!

Jean's niece tries out the new CKF iPad!

Do you remember this summer when Kim, one of our Capable Kids and Families Moms, did a fundraiser for us? She sold cupcakes (Abbicakes) to help raise money for CKF because of the great benefits she and her family, especially her sweet Abbi receive from the program. Well, Jean and her staff thought of the perfect tool to buy with the money Kim earned. CKF just purchased an iPad which can be the most amazing tool for children with special needs.  There are sensory, communication, fine motor, signing apps and more! This will be a huge benefit to so many of our families. Therapists are so very excited and we will be working closely with them to implement some amazing language programs. The only sad part is that we can only afford one iPad so we will not be able to loan it out but will be able to use it on visits.

Employee at the Lake

Bill our first virtual employee!

Bill Ricker is our data and research expert so when he announced he was moving to the Lake for his official retirement we were all so sad. In the internet age, distance should not eliminate a great employee, so we asked Bill to consider continuing to work with us - and he agreed. Now our data and research needs are only a computer click away!

Here is my last technology effort - the little symbol below is the cool bar code scanning thing (see I don't even know what they are called). It worked on my phone so see if you can read it with your smart phone!

I know I did not do the scanny thing right but thought I would give it a try. If you can't scan it - this is what it is suppose to say: "This is kind of like the old decoder rings but so much easier - you don't have to write down every letter to decipher the code! Technology - amazing!" And if you want to become your own coder this is the site I used: qrcode.kaywa.com

Okay one last technology part. Missouri S&T Greeks will be hosting more than forty kids next week at our Linking Hearts Event. We are so excited and hope you will join us! I think I did it - cupcakes, the Lake, and S&T (T=Technology!) - all the technology you could ever want! Hope you are enjoying the beautiful weather.
