I think the lyrics to the Gershwin song had to have been written before the advent of air conditioning. I can only imagine how very slow I would become if I had to work in the heat and humidity but I am so busy and summertime today seems to be as crazy as the rest of the year! I am not complaining though - if I can have air conditioning I can keep busy!
I have some great stories to tell you this month - I hope you enjoy reading them.

Congratulations Misti!

We are very proud to announce that on July 22, 2010 Misti Crain completed Basic and Advanced Training at Fort Leonard Wood. Private Crain is currently stationed at Schofield Barracks in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Misti participated in our Independent Living Program and was an active member of the State Youth Advisory Board. Amy DeLuca was delighted to join Misti and Caryl Mussing (CASA of South Central Missouri) for the graduation. Misti graciously provided everyone with a lovely dinner (which included appetizers!)
Let us know if you would like to send your own congratulations to Misti - I know she would love to hear from you so you can tell her how proud you are too!

Capable Kids and Families Enjoy Summer!

| Summer and Water - a Perfect Combination!

Thanks to the gracious generosity of Wal-Mart DC 69 in Saint James a happy group of families shared a great day at SplashZone! Kids splashed, and laughed, and had a great time while parents had an opportunity to get together and just be a family.
When you have a child with a special need it is often difficult to take part in family fun activities. The CKF Summer Party however was a place where everyone felt welcomed and included in a wonderful morning of fun. Parents helped each other out and SplashZone staff were incredibly helpful. Families beamed as they left the park - and asked if we could do this again!

The countdown begins - only two weeks until we open the doors to our new (hugely expanded) Resale Shop! The place looks great and our new landlords have bent over backwards getting the place beautiful and ready for business. If you have a group of friends who would like to get in on the adventure we could sure use some help moving stuff in the next few weeks. Give us a call at the office (368.2849) and let us know you would like to help us with the move - we will gratefully accept your help! Keep cool - September is just around the corner!
Wishing You All the Best,
