I know I just sent a Notes to you but hope you don't mind getting another brief message from me. First, I wanted to invite you to a Wake up to Mentoring event and then to share some information about giving to Haiti. This has been a very hard week locally and internationally and I know how very generous our community is - providing all kinds of support. What follows is a little information that you might use if you would like to get more involved.

Wake Up to Mentoring!

If you would like to get involved locally we have an awesome opportunity for you to learn more about mentoring. The wonderful Phyllis M., at Meramec Vineyards, will be hosting an informational session about mentoring for our Young Parents program. The event begins at 9:00 and lasts until 10:30 and breakfast is provided - including Phyllis' delicious quiche! This event will give you a chance to learn more about what it means to be a mentor, hear directly from current mentors, and find out if this is the next great volunteer job for you! So, just find a friend, or come on your own - Marilyn Newkirk, our Mentor Coordinator would love to tell you more about it or get your RSVP! Thanks for thinking of us - this Saturday - January 23, 2010 at Meramec Vineyards!

The devastation in Haiti had me wondering where my donation may do the most good. So I turned to a group that I really rely on for excellent non-profit advice - Independent Sector. Independent Sector is the leadership forum for charities, foundations, and corporate giving programs committed to advancing the common good in America and around the world. They have a great link that they will update regularly - it lists organizations that have expertise and experience in international disaster relief and are already working in Haiti. I thought I would share this link with you.
This past week has really reminded me how very precious life is and how much we all really need one another. Please take care and know how very grateful I am to live in such a wonderful community.
Sincerely yours,
