The Community Partnership
Notes From Amy
June Edition

Dear ###USER_firstname###,

June 2009

I have so much news to tell you about that I had to cut out some information. I wanted to tell you about the bike race last Saturday and a great story about one of our foster youth. I guess I will have to wait for another issue to get you caught up with all of our news. Please enjoy the stories I do have room to share with you today. It has been great hearing from you too - please let me know if you have a program or something you would like to learn more about.

14TH MOTOR LOAN

Now I can Work!

Pictured at the right is Sharon and her five year old son. Sharon is our 14th MOTOR loan recipient. Sharon's son was so excited when they test drove their car and, as you can see by the picture, he is really happy that they were able to buy it!  Bill Goerger, who owns Quality Pre-Owned Auto Service and Sales in Cuba sold Sharon the car and has sold a number of our clients their cars. Mr. Goerger is now giving warranties on the cars purchased by MOTOR clients.

Sharon said "you have no idea what a difference having this car is going to make to me." Rose told her, "I am very happy that we were able to help you in this way, but really it was your persistence and determination to find a job and work in spite of your medical challenges that got you the loan."  When Rose told her that CWSP funding may end June 30, she asked if there was anything that she could do to let state officials know how much the program has helped her and other CWSP clients. Rose was so proud that Sharon has offered her help.

Thanks to everyone who has made this program such a great success. Transportation can be a huge barrier in our rural communities and having a reliable vehicle can make all the difference. If you have a low-priced (under $2,400) dependable car please consider our MOTOR program - we also happily take good donations. Ina would love to hear from you!

PIZZA AT THE PARK 2009

Beautiful Day!

Capable Kids and Families had a great time this Saturday, June 13th playing at the annual Pizza at the Park at Lion's Club Park in Rolla. It was a beautiful day and everyone seemed to really love spending time together.

Highlights included a giant yellow blow-up ball that the kids could get inside of and be pushed all around the park. It was also fun watching Jean try to shove it into her car! Everyone also had fun blowing bubbles, fishing in the "pond" and making new friends. We got some wonderful pictures that I hope you will be able to view on our new website - due out this month!

Jean shared a great story with me this week. "An early childhood teacher from B.W. Robinson stopped by to bring a thank you note from the students. She shared that she can always tell which parents have participated in CKF.  'CKF parents are more confident and competent.  They come in the door ready to be team players and follow through on activities at home.  Parents who have not participated in CKF are still filled with regrets and guilt.'" We are so fortunate to have your support which enables us to provide families with the important services of Capable Kids and Families. Thank you!

Sincerely,
