Notes From Amy
Come Join Us at Linking Hearts
September 25th at Lion's Club Park

Dear ###USER_firstname###,

Wow, this month is zipping by and so much has been going on here that I am afraid that I am late in keeping you up-to-date! Last week ECE sponsored an autism informational meeting at Lion's Club with more than fifty people in attendance. They also worked with PCCAN to host a Healthy Baby Extravaganza last Saturday at First Christian Church with more than 80 families participating. This week included the Baby Bucks Party, work-place readiness classes, and Girls Inc. classes! Meanwhile Jean and I are working like crazy to get the Capable Kids and Families program up and running in St. Louis! Wait there's more.....

Join us for Linking Hearts!

Creating a Smile at the Centre

Next week is Linking Hearts and guess what? We have 64 youth who coming from more than 24 counties in Missouri. These young people range in age from 2-17 and will be spending a fun day at the Centre and then off to Lion's Club Park for free food, games, and fun. Did you know that right now there are approximately 2,000 children in Missouri who are ready for adoption? I know that some of the youth who will be here Friday will find their forever home because of Linking Hearts. This day is filled with lots of volunteers and supporters and I really have to brag on the Missouri S&T Greeks. They really make this day possible by cooking food, creating booths, and mentoring a young person for the day. What a great group of generous and hard-working students! If you would like to help out please give us a call or contact Robyn or Lori here in our office.

Baby Bucks Success

Shopping at Baby Bucks

Everyone had a great time at Baby Bucks this week! The night was very well organized and the meal was great thanks again to the wonderful Baldwin Family! More than twenty young families cashed in their "bucks" for much needed baby items, toys, and clothing. I also want to thank the mentors not only for the great work they do with the young parents but for helping out on Tuesday. Special thanks to Tracy Rosenow, Karen Clancy, Johnathan Hines, Tracey Hardberger, Goodridge, and Rhoda Parker for helping make this night a great success! We put on a Baby Bucks Party twice a year and it works thanks to all the volunteers, childcare providers, staff, parents, and mentors that make this such a great success! P.S. If you are interested in learning more about mentoring please contact Marilyn here at our office!

Jean shared a wonderful story with me yesterday. She said one of the new moms in Capable Kids and Families told her that they had just moved to Rolla and they cannot believe what an amazing gift Capable Kids and Families is and how well The Partnership treats her family. She said that when CKF staff tell her how wonderful her daughter is she can tell they really mean it - "you all don't pretend she is beautiful you really beleive it." Thanks for believing in us and for all you do for our Partnership. I hope to see you out at Lion's Club Park next Friday!
